Achal James Fernando-Peiris (b. 1997) was awarded first place in the 2014 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for his physics and astronomy project. He also received the Innovation Exploration Award. He attends the Mount Vernon High School, Mount Vernon, Ohio, U.S.A.
