William H. Allen (b. 1939), an electrical engineer and amateur astronomer, erected his private observatory with a 0.32-m telescope in Rapaura, New Zealand. He has participated in photometric campaigns on cataclysmic variables, notably η Carinae, as well as on stellar occultations by minor planets.
