José D’Haveloose (1922–1996) was a surgeon in the West Flanders town of Tielt. He was magnificient in his efforts to relieve suffering, but his own neck injuries finally made him unable to operate any more. In his later days he developed a great love for astronomy. (M 36949) _ _.
